Every year, the Black Friday shopping spree reveals significant patterns in consumer behavior. Total online Black Friday sales hit a record high of $9b, up 22% from $7.4b in 2019. This indicates either no adverse effect on sales caused by the COVID-19 pandemic or more traffic to online channels due to the pandemic.

Our infographic today utilizes data from SEMrush to visualize the most searched items and retailers for 2020’s Black Friday shopping. The data revealed that items such as Nintendo Switch, AirPods, Apple Watch and PS4 have remained among the top 10 for some years now while items such as Pandora and Vans just entered the top 10 in 2020. As for the retailers, dominant brands like Walmart, Amazon and Target have remained among the most searched for sometime now, while Nike and Kohl’s recently made it to the list.
